ADMISSIONS TEAM: 01752 797102
TRAINING DEPARTMENT: 01752 566211
Rationale
As natural ‘helpers’ it is common for counsellors to find them-selves caught in patterns of rescuing their clients; leading to a blurring of boundaries, an enmeshment with the client’s material and the counsellor being worn down by the process. This work-shop seeks to help counsellors gain insight into the source of their own ‘rescuer’.
The aims of the Workshop include:
Understand what is meant by ‘Rescuing’ & ‘The Shadow’
Understand a variety of motivations behind the impulse to rescue
Reflect on the source of our own rescuer
Explore how to curb the rescuer within
As this workshop will be learner focussed, it may not be possible to cover all of the aims
