Broadreach is able to meet the treatment needs of most clients with dual diagnosis. Click here to view Dual Diagnosis Case Studies We are supported by an experienced consultant addiction psychiatrist, Dr Alison Battersby. Alison is a Cambridge-qualified doctor, an elected member of the executive committee of the Addictions Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and their Academic Secretary. She regularly contributes to the development of national policy in her field, with a current interest in the Recovery Agenda in both mental health and addictions fields. This work is contracted with the local Trust ensuring good links with acute mental health services should the need arise.
We know that clients with dual diagnosis require tailor-made care from assessment to treatment completion. At Broadreach we see the individual’s assessment as paramount to ensuring that the client receives the right treatment. We will often need more detailed history and risk information to ensure that we are the right treatment provider for the client. We will have an established and safe exit plan agreed with the referrer before admission acknowledging the specific needs of the client should the placement not be successful.
Psychotropic medication of non-addictive nature including depot injections is not a bar to admission to the Broadreach Group. Medication is reviewed following admission, reflecting the differing needs of the client who is undergoing detoxification. Clients are assessed and treated for any co-morbid psychiatric disorders following the most up-to-date national guidance.
From our extensive experience working with this client group, we know that it is important for our client’s success to maintain a balance of client need in the house. Admission dates for this client group will reflect this.
In summary, Broadreach offers holistic care for both mental health and addiction needs, whilst supporting people in their recovery journey.
