House Diploma in Addictions Counselling
Opportunities to train in this field are limited in this country, where there is currently a serious shortage of trained professionals to deal with an ever-growing drug problem - the 1-year NOCN level 3 vocational training course provides you with an opportunity to gain employment in a rapidly growing sector.
The Broadreach House diploma course will support you within a broad evidence-based theoretical framework, in becoming a skilled, creative and competent counsellor. A particular emphasis is given to exploring the nature of resistance and methods of facilitating change. On completion, you will be able to develop a professional, therapeutic and productive relationship with clients, and to deliver a range of interventions in both residential and community settings. You will also complete Motivational Interviewing Practitioner training as part of the course.
It is very suitable for anyone intending to specialise in working with clients with dependence issues, and will meet the needs of a wide range of learners seeking employment in, or currently working in, the care, health, social and voluntary services. It is supported by the local Drug Action Teams, which also commission Broadreach House to run training courses in Motivational Interviewing.
