Housing and Resettlement
Housing related Support
Provides high quality and professional housing related support for people who have made a commitment to addressing their substance misuse and are engaged with Plymouth’s community based drug treatment services. Our floating support team provides housing related support to those who may need assistance with maintaining their existing tenancies, or help to move to more suitable accommodation. The support offered includes providing advice about tenancies, managing tenancies, liaison with landlords, safety and security in the home, dealing with bills, debts and administrative issues, welfare and benefits and eating to stay healthy. Referral to this service is via Harbour. For more information download our floating support leaflet.
Supported Housing
We provide supported housing in a five bedroom shared house in the Peverell neighbourhood of Plymouth, where you are able to spend a period of 6-12 months in secure, drug and alcohol free accommodation whilst you regain the skills and confidence needed to enable you to return to living independently. An important objective in supported housing is to establish consistent daily routines that lead to a safe and fulfilling lifestyle and the development of support networks that will help you to sustain recovery in the long term. This is achieved through attendance at a day service programme (either Broadreach Action for Change or Hamoaze House) and participation in a support planning process to identify specific areas of support that may be needed. For More information download our supported housing leaflet.
Resettlement
Our resettlement service provides advice and assistance for individuals in our residential treatment centres who may wish to remain in Plymouth on completion of their treatment. Examples of the resettlement services provided are:
• Advice on housing options • Assistance with applications to drug/alcohol free supported housing projects • Assistance with applications for social housing e.g. Local Housing Register • Advice and assistance in contacting private landlords/letting agencies • Assistance with homeless applications • Assistance with applications for funding e.g. Community Care Grant, Budgeting Loan, Rent Deposit Bond scheme
Download our Resettlement leaflet for more information.
Privately Rented Accommodation
Because the availability of social housing in Plymouth is very limited, we make specific provision to assist our service users to access privately rented accommodation by offering a range of support and also by offering assistance to landlords. Download our Privately Rented Accommodation leaflet for more information.
