About Us

About Us I Philosophy of Care I Mission Statement

Broadreach House is an innovative and dynamic registered charity, offering treatment and support services for men and women whose lives have been adversely affected by alcohol or drugs.  Our focus is on client need throughout a non-linear treatment journey, from medical treatment to re-integration into the community.  A holistic approach to treatment, providing the right conditions, treatment and support enables clients to make major and lasting changes in their lives.

Ian Wilson, the founder, was a visionary dedicated to helping those people affected by alcohol and substance-misuse  to rebuild their lives.  Ian had first hand experience of the devastating effect of dependence within a family, and his passionate belief in the ability of people to change fuelled the drive to raise funds and set up Broadreach in 1982.  The opening of Closereach followed later in 1989, Longreach in 1996, and the celebrated Ocean Quay day service in 2006.

During the past 25 years,  over 8,000 people from a diverse range of backgrounds have benefited from the umbrella of care we offer, with Broadreach House consistently achieving one of the best completion rates in the country. Our approach to treatment continues to develop and strengthens continuously to reflect research findings, and the input of service-users.
